Policy & Procedure

Policy and procedure regarding plagiarism exist in the Aultman College Catalog under the Copyright Policy and Student Code of Conduct, respectively. Disciplinary sanctions are also described in the Student Code of Conduct.

Consequences from Faculty

Your professors are responsible for detecting plagiarism and initiating the discipline process. If an assignment is plagiarized, they may take any of the following actions:

  • Completely refuse the assignment for submission
  • Give a grade of F or zero for the assignment
  • Give a grade of F for the course

You may or may not have the opportunity to revise the assignment. This is entirely at the professor's discretion.

Who Can I Ask for Help?

There are many support services available at Aultman College that can offer guidance regarding plagiarism:

  • Your professors can answer specific questions about the instructions and your written assignment
  • The librarian can offer guidance on plagiarism education
  • The writing tutors in the Student Success Center can offer guidance on your writing and APA
