Avoiding plagiarism is very easy!
- Do the assigned work. Take your responsibility as a student seriously. Uphold academic honesty and integrity.
- Be conscious of how you use sources:
- Create an outline and plan where you want to pull in sources.
- Keep track of where you cite by adding in-text citations as you write, instead of adding them in after the paper is written.
- When in doubt, cite the source.
- After you've written your assignment, review it carefully and revise.
- Ask yourself: have I drawn from sources too heavily? Where can I introduce more of my own ideas? Is there anywhere where it might be appropriate to add a citation?
- Ask your professor if you're ever lost or confused. Ultimately, they will be reading and grading your assignment. Remember, they are the academic experts!
- Come to the Library or the Student Success Center for assistance.
