NEOLINK & OhioLINK Catalog Search Tips
Simple Search
- From the catalog homepage, type your term in the search box.
- Use the dropdown menu or tabs to select which field you would like to search for your term.
- Field types are:
- Author - Searches only author fields
- Title - Searches only title fields
- Subject - Searches only subject fields
- Call Number – Searches only Call Number fields
- ISSN/ISBN – Searches only ISSN/ISBN fields
- Keyword – Searches ALL fields
Advanced Keyword Search
- Click on the advanced keyword search link to combine multiple search terms or to limit by language, publication year, publisher, or material type.
- To limit your keyword search to items only available at Aultman, click on Aultman in the Location Box.
Phrase Searches
- Put quotation marks around words you would like searched as a phrase.
Wildcards
- Use an asterisk “*” to right-hand truncate for 1—5 characters.
- Use a question mark (?) to replace a single letter.
Boolean Operators
- Use “AND” or “OR” operators to choose words in any field or order. Use “AND NOT” to exclude words.
- E.g. stocks AND bonds
- E.g. stocks OR bonds
- E.g. stocks AND NOT bonds
Grouping
- Keywords searches are grouped by relevance to bring the most likely titles to the top of the list. Each group represents a similar level of relevance and results are sorted within the group by date or tile.
- To get an ungrouped results set, use Boolean operators to form a complex query.
Renewals
- Log in to your library account
- Select the materials you would like to renew by checking the boxes in the RENEW column
- Click the "Renew Selected Item" button
